Environmental control with UAV / RPAS

The use of RPAS or DRONES allows the surveillance of big spaces from a privileged perspective, even during night hours, and to compare its evolution through time. Furthermore, they are a much more ecologic option, as drones don´t generate any kind of polluting emissions. And all this at a much lower cost than traditional methods. The possibility that SkyZoOm offers to capture all kind of aerial images (photo and video HD, thermal and multispectral) open a wide range of possibilities of applications for environmental surveillance and control:


Environmental Impact Assessments: compulsory before the execution of any works or infrastructure that may have a minimum impact in its close environment, being in many cases determinant. We can obtain 3D model simulations of great precisions, from the aerial capture of HD images and their treatment with specific photogrammetric software.

Control of water resources and degraded areas: it allows to control and study river basins and to know the situation of regulation or piping. It´s possible to evaluate the level of water reservoirs as well as eroded areas and their evolution through time. In the same way, using 3D model simulations we can evaluate flood risk areas.

Forest surveillance and fire control: one of the main advantages of drones in respect to traditional methods is that they can fly in night conditions, what makes of them a great tool for the management of fire extinction. It facilitates the redistribution of ground means depending on the evolution of fire during the night, improving their effectiveness and reducing significatively the time needed to control a fire.

Control of polluting discharges and waste sites: thanks to thermal and multispectral images captures by sensors embarked on RPAS or DRONES it´s possible to determine and control illegal discharges or to detect and survey not controlled waste sites, that are a danger for our environment for the possibility of ground and water pollution. They allow the surveillance of potential polluting sources, evaluation of damages and their environmental impact throughout time. In addition, the topographic applications obtained by SkyZoOm are a very useful tool in landfill closures.

Study of animal species: thanks to the fact that drons don´t generate significant polluting, sound or waste emissions, they are the perfect tool for the surveillance and study of wild species or in extinction risk without perturbing their natural habitat, and may even be used for the study of night habits by the use of thermal sensors. In the same way, they allow the control of invading species, the planning of erradicating measures and the evaluation of results.
